The Journey to Hyperautomation
What is Hyperautomation?
Hyperautomation is a relatively new term in the automation world. It is the amalgamation of IPA with advanced and complex technologies like AI(Artificial Intelligence), ML (Machine Learning), Process Mining and Analytics to automate processes in ways that are significantly more impactful than traditional automation solutions and sometimes absolutely non-automatable by old techniques.
IPA has come a long way since its inception in early 2000’s. While the early day candidates of automatable processes were relatively straightforward and simple, with the advent of emerging IT Communication technologies, some processes have become very complex and difficult to automate. Using traditional automation tools and techniques to automate the modern enterprise processes will have relatively smaller ROI.
Spectar recommends its clients to go for robust AI and ML based Hyperautomation solutions to automate their business processes.
Where to apply?
The term Hyperautomation has joined the mainstream conversation recently. Companies across the board are reaping big benefits from Hyperautomation. Below are some popular use-cases which we come across in our projects:
1. Data Processing and Integration Automation:
Most firms have numerous sources of data in their various business units. However, though the companies have data, most of it is not formatted and streamlined to attain business objectives. To make the data digital, companies often hire data entry operators and data analysts to digitize their data and draw sound reports. In fact, as per a report from Gartner, 87% of organizations have low BI and analytics maturity. (https://www.gartner.com/en/newsroom/press-releases/2018-12-06-gartner-data-shows-87-percent-of-organizations-have-low-bi-and-analytics-maturity). In the old days, data used to be in a limited number of forms and used to come from a limited number of sources. Now they are plethora of data, most of them which are unstructured, coming from a variety of sources viz. email, excel, network, tweets, social media, chat bots to name a few. While structured data can be readily automated using traditional IPA solutions, the unstructured data need advanced AI techniques to be collected, extracted, and transformed. Spectar recommends its clients to use AI-based data automation integration. This involves automation and streamlining of collecting data from various sources and cleaning and transforming it in a way which BI systems can understand. Automation also takes care of Data Compliance as per the standards.
2. When it comes to managing money, what comes to your mind?
- Finance and Accounting
- Who do I need to pay?
- Who needs to pay me?
- How do I collect on my payments?
- How do I reconcile my accounts?
- How do I make sure my transactions are accurate?
While these questions look straightforward, the implementation for such requirements needs complicated enterprise software. Those software are used and managed by SMEs manually. Again, if the processes are straightforward and simple, then traditional IPA will do the job. But due to current complicated business scenarios which need human intervention based on their judgement, Hyperautomation is the need of the hour. Hyper-automation can automate most of such processes using advanced AI technologies like OCR, Classification, and Regression.
3. IT Service Management and Customer Support
All major companies have a vast network of customer support executives. Round the clock they get customer requests and complains and accordingly they open a ticket in the Incident Management or other similar portal. Those tickets are then manually assigned to the right team by another business SME. Due to a large customer base of digital solution providers, it is technically challenging to cater to the requests with precision (right team allocation the first time) and complaints of so many clients. Recently SAP, of whom we are a business partner, automated their operations using the advanced Hyper-automation solution. Now instead of a human being intervening in the ticketing process, an AI based automation engine does the magic and the whole process time is reduced to 1 second!
4. Hyper-automation for COVID-19 Management
There are several areas where Hyper-automation can be effective for COVID-19 Management. Hyper-automation can collect the data from various apps built for the purpose of COVID-19 management and can create a presentable report for medical practitioners. It can help build a common repository from various medical stores and can produce an automated report of availability of COVID-19 related medicines location-wise. IPA tools have triggers which can detect from apps whether someone supposed to be in isolation is breaching the quarantine rules and produce streamlined reports of all such cases from various locations and various apps. It can also be instrumental in clinical management by providing streamlined reports from various apps.
